Diploma in “Civic Engagement and Community Development” by Mars Institute in Northwestern Syria

With support from the European Endowment for Democracy (EED).

Mars Institute for Political Thought and Sciences launched the “Civic Engagement and Community Development” diploma as part of its academic project activities to enhance civil and community awareness in Northwestern Syria.

The diploma aims to empower youth and activists with the tools for civil work and is implemented in partnership with the European Endowment for Democracy (EED).

The program includes theoretical sessions and practical training supervised by specialists in political and social affairs.

Mars Institute for Thought and Political Science – Enhancing Political Awareness & Capacity Building

The management team of Mars Organization for Community Development visited the Mars Institute for Thought and Political Science in Azaz, where Dr. Osama, the organization’s executive director, led a discussion session with students and the institute’s team. The session focused on the importance of enhancing political understanding and developing students’ intellectual skills while providing a space for constructive dialogue on political thought and issues in Syria.

MARS Institute Launches Diploma in Democratic Transition in Azaz to Enhance Political Understanding

MARS Institute for Science and Political Thought has launched the Diploma in Democratic Transition in the city of Azaz, in the Aleppo countryside, as part of its academic programs aimed at enhancing political understanding and promoting the principles of governance and democracy.
This diploma is part of the institute’s efforts to provide specialized political education that addresses the challenges facing the region and contributes to preparing qualified cadres capable of actively engaging in political life.
This program is part of a series of academic diplomas offered by the institute to support the political and democratic process in Syria.

Creativity in Recycling: Transforming Simple Materials into Art Pieces that Protect the Environment

We had an enjoyable experience with recycling, where we transformed old metal cans into stylish vases and pencil holders. This idea was a way to express how simple objects can be turned into beautiful pieces, highlighting the power of creativity in giving old things a new life. We also carried out an activity using used cardboard cups, turning them into elegant baskets for hospitality and decor. This activity focused on fostering creativity and raising awareness about the importance of recycling by utilizing available materials and transforming them into valuable products. These activities demonstrate how creativity can contribute to environmental protection in innovative ways. Transforming simple materials into beautiful items not only adds an aesthetic touch but also encourages thinking about how to make the most of available resources and protect the environment.

 

Peacebuilding Forum in Afrin: Enhancing Coordination and Community Cohesion

In a step towards enhancing coordination and community cohesion, Mars held a Peacebuilding Forum in Afrin with wide participation from the local community. This forum is part of the Community Change Partners program, aimed at increasing coordination among community components and clarifying roles and responsibilities among them.

During the forum, the key results from the recommendations of the focused discussion sessions organized by Mars activists on democratic participation, peacebuilding, and community coordination were presented, and individuals who contributed to local peacebuilding efforts in Afrin were honored

 

Kick-off of the Cartoon Art Workshop: Creativity Reflecting Reality

The first day of the Cartoon Art Workshop under the Takafou Project has begun! 🎉 We witnessed great interaction with participants who explored drawing techniques and humorous expression, enhancing their ability to convey political, social, and cultural messages in an innovative way. ✍️✨

With extensive and diverse community involvement, MARS organized several sessions in the northern countryside of Aleppo and Idlib. The discussions were insightful, leading participants to develop recommendations aimed at strengthening the local community’s role in fostering peace and promoting democratic values and community engagement.

Completion of Comprehensive Training Program for Activists under the Community Change Partners Project

As part of the “Community Change Partners” project, MARS Organization successfully completed a comprehensive 30-hour training program for activists. The program covered key topics including democratic participation and accountability, digital citizenship and media literacy, and leadership and communication skills.
With the training now complete, the trainees are preparing to implement and facilitate focus group discussions and awareness sessions across all project sites.

The Second ‘Wathiqoon’ Forum Unites Inspiration and Creativity in Northwest Syria

The program “Confident in Our Ability to Change,” in collaboration with March organization, hosted the second ‘Wathiqoon’ forum in mid-July in Northwest Syria. The forum served as an exceptional occasion for inspiration, featuring presentations by winners of the ‘Confident’ competitions from its first and second phases. It included award ceremonies honoring both male and female winners, alongside an art exhibition showcasing creative talents. A poetry segment also highlighted winning poems recited by participating poets.

The event was distinguished by a lively discussion among participating teams and individuals on enhancing community participation and the vital role of youth in societal development, as well as promoting a culture of dialogue and democracy.
